This is not a bowl you put fruit in. This is a bowl you build a room around.
Turned on a wood lathe by Maui legend Chainsaw Willy, this one-of-a-kind vessel is shaped from a single piece of locally sourced Milo wood. The form is tall, clean, and modern — more vase than bowl — with thin, even walls and a silky smooth finish that lets the natural grain do all the talking.
And what a grain it is. Milo is prized in Hawaiʻi for its rich, swirling color variations — deep amber, warm honey, dark chocolate — all moving through the wood like watercolor. Every knot, crack, and mineral streak tells the story of where this tree grew and how long it lived. You can still see the faint lathe rings on the interior, a quiet reminder that a real person shaped this by hand on a real machine.
Chainsaw Willy is a well-known Maui woodworker with a reputation for turning extraordinary bowls from island-grown hardwoods. Each piece is one of a kind — once it sells, it’s gone forever.
Display it on a coffee table, mantle, dining console, or entryway. This is gallery-level craftsmanship with island soul.
