Milo (Thespesia populopulnea) is a sacred Hawaiian hardwood — historically reserved for Hawaiian royalty, prized for its deep, swirling grain and rich tones that range from warm honey to deep chocolate-red.
Standing 7 inches tall with a 6.5-inch diameter, this piece showcases everything that makes Milo so coveted: dramatic figuring, contrasting heartwood and sapwood, and grain patterns that shift and dance as you move around it. The form is sculptural and elegant — a soft, organic curve that swells gently outward before tapering to the rim.
The finish is exceptional. Sanded to glass-smooth perfection and sealed with a hand-applied lacquer that brings out every detail of the grain, this vessel is as much a work of art as it is an object you can hold and use.
